July 2024
Our Hours
We are open 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. We are closed on weekends and public holidays.
We Are Enrolling
We are currently accepting new enrolments. There are numerous benefits to being enrolled, and this can all be done online. Follow the link and send to your friends and whānau.
Big Welcome to our newest Doctor
We are pleased to welcome Dr Gareth Keat to our Meridian Medical whānau. Dr Gareth is the newest addition to our prescribing team, having joined us in February.
Our Medical Team
We are very fortunate to be able to offer Doctor and Nurse Practitioner appointments to our patients. Having a Nurse Practitioner as well as GP’s makes it easier for you to get the medicines and care you need. Our reception team will be able to advise what appointment will best suit your needs, as it may not always be necessary to see one of our doctors.
Doctors & Nurse prescribers
Dr Jan Cottle – Monday to Friday
Dr Gareth Keat – Monday to Friday
Dr Nina Molteno – Mondays & Wednesdays
Dr Marwa Othman – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
NP Michelle Peperkoorn – (Nurse Practitioner) Tuesday to Friday
Dr Deborah Brunt – Immigration Doctor
Dr Deborah Brunt is leaving us at the end of this month to spend more time on her own practice. We are going to miss Deb as she has been part of our team for a number of years. Dr Marwa Othman will become our new immigration doctor on Tuesday mornings, along with our experienced nurse Melissa.
What is a Nurse Practitioner?
Nurse Practitioners are highly skilled autonomous health practitioners who have advanced education, clinical training and demonstrated competency. They have the legal authority to practice beyond the level of a registered nurse. This video provides additional information. Our Nurse Practitioner Michelle is a highly skilled and experienced clinician. Like our GP’s, she can diagnose your needs, order tests, prescribe medicines and treat you. Michelle is available Tuesday to Friday.
15 Minute Appointments
Each doctor or nurse practitioner consultation is only 15 minutes long so if you have more than one matter to discuss with your practitioner, you may need to book and pay for 2 appointments. The practitioner will not be able to deal effectively with numerous matters in 15 minutes, and we want to be able to provide you with the best possible care.
Nurse Appointments
You may not always need to see your doctor if you have any of the following acute conditions, you can book in with one of our experienced and helpful nurses:
Conjunctivitis or eye complaints
Sore throats
Wounds
Bacterial vaginosis
Cellulitis or skin infections
UTI’s in women aged 16-75 years
Emergency contraceptive pill
Repeat Scripts
It is a legal requirement for prescribers to see a patient who they are prescribing for on a regular basis. This should be discussed with your prescriber and documented within your notes. We have a waiting period of 5 working days for non-urgent repeat prescription requests and 2 working days for urgent and there is an additional charge for urgent repeat prescriptions.
Travel Vaccinations – Nurse Led Clinics Monday to Friday
Tama is our travel vaccination nurse and can look after all your travel vaccinations. This involves 2 appointments, the first appointment is to discuss what you need, we then order the vaccines and ideally at least 4 weeks prior to your travel, we then administer the vaccines for you. We charge a one-off fee which includes the 2 nurse consultations, cost of vaccinations, shipping, handling (as they need to be ordered in after the first consult) storage and charting. These must be paid up front when the vaccines are ordered. This service is also offered to patients who are not registered at our practice.
